What is Hyundai Auto Link?

Hyundai Auto Link is an app that is installed on a compatible smartphone that connects to your Hyundai vehicle (check supported vehicles). Hyundai Auto Link (Connected Driver Experience) analyses your driving behaviour and assists with economical driving as well as monitoring your vehicle for any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) .

If DTCs are detected, it automatically sends diagnostic data via the Hyundai Auto Link application (while the application is running) to Hyundai New Zealand Ambassador Team. It also provides a convenient way to book your vehicle in for a service.

Does Hyundai Auto Link work with all Hyundai vehicles ?

 No, currently Hyundai Auto Link is only being piloted with the all-new kona & new i30 (2017 model).

How do I find the Hyundai Auto Link App in the App Store ?

 Search for “Hyundai Auto Link” in the App Store or Google Play Store. If it is not found, check your smartphone is compatible on the list of compatible devices.

Which mobile devices / Operating systems are compatible with Hyundai Auto Link ?

A wide range of Apple OS & Android OS smart phones are supported. See compatible devices guide for more detailed information

- Android OS - 4.3 version (After Galaxy S3 Model) or higher

- iPhone - iOS 8.1 or higher

- Windows OS (not supported)

Can I upgrade my smartphone OS version

You should experience no issues after updating OS versions.

How do I connect Hyundai Auto Link to my i30 (PD) or Kona (OS) ?

The set-up process to Hyundai Auto Link would have been done at the point of vehicle sale & hand over. However, if you need to redo the connection set up. Refer to the Auto Link User Guide in the Auto Link App. Ensure that the smartphone has;

-  Airplane mode turned off

- Bluetooth and Location services turned on

Why can’t I connect Hyundai Auto Link with my vehicle?

The main causes of this problem are that either the connection between the Auto Link Module to the vehicle is not functioning or Bluetooth is turned OFF on the smart phone.

Please check your smartphone settings.

- Make sure Airplane Mode is turned OFF.

- Make sure Bluetooth is turned ON.

Note: Hyundai Auto Link is only available as a pilot program with All-New Kona & New i30 (2017 model).

Can I pair multiple mobile devices with Hyundai Auto Link to my vehicle ?

 Only one compatible smartphone can be paired at any time, generally the last stored smartphone would get priority and connect to the Auto Link module.

Can I configure Hyundai Auto Link ?

 Hyundai Auto Link enables configuration of the App such as Module setup, User Information, Application settings, Program version, Unit Settings, User Guide, and Auto Link Module diagnosis.

How do I register with Hyundai iQ using Hyundai Auto Link ?

During the Auto Link setup process you will be asked to link to your Hyundai iQ (Hyundai New Zealand’s Customer loyalty & rewards platform), account. If you are not registered with Hyundai iQ and don’t have a Hyundai iQ account, press the ‘Register’ button during the setup process and follow the instructions.

What do I do if I forgot my Hyundai iQ password in Hyundai Auto Link ?

How do I change my change preferred Dealer in Hyundai Auto Link ?

 Hyundai Auto Link stores your favourite / preferred Dealer for your convenience and is mainly used when you book a service. Any captured Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC) can also be shared with your favourite / preferred Dealer to assist with vehicle maintenance. To change your favourite dealer, open the Dealer Network function, find your new favourite / preferred Hyundai Dealer or Hyundai Service Agent and save. 

How do I remove Hyundai Auto Link from my smartphone ?

If the vehicle is driven without a paired smartphone to the Auto Link Module, the

        following vehicle information is saved after each drive with in Auto Link module.

              > Driving Time (Current)

              > Driving Distance (Current)

              > Odometer

              > Average Fuel efficiency

What happens with Hyundai Auto Link if I drive without my paired smartphone ?

 From time to time, you may receive a call from your Hyundai New Zealand or a Hyundai Dealer / Service Agent related to a DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) that Hyundai Auto Link has sent to Hyundai New Zealand as part of preventative maintenance. 

Why are the DTC codes from Hyundai Auto Link sent to Hyundai ?

 To remove the Hyundai Auto Link app, simply uninstall from your smartphone like any other app.

If your Hyundai Auto Link app is not working, use the Module Diagnosis function in the Hyundai Auto Link app to perform a self-test and find the problem.

  1. Bluetooth self-test: Press the “Start” button in the Bluetooth section to
  2. check the Bluetooth function with the Auto Link Module.
  3. Vehicle communication: Press the “Start” button in the Communication section to check communication between vehicle and Auto Link Module.
  4. Latest Module software version: Press the “Start” button in the Software update section if you want to perform a software update on the Auto Link module.

If you are experiencing the Hyundai Auto Link app crashing on a regular basis:

- Check you have the latest app version by visiting the App store

- Check your smartphone is supported using the compatible devices guide

- Uninstall and reinstall the Hyundai Auto Link app.

 DTC refers to Diagnostic Trouble Codes and are used by Hyundai New Zealand’s Technical Team to investigate any problems with your vehicle with the support of the Hyundai Dealer network.  Hyundai Auto Link sends DTC data to Hyundai New Zealand.

What is a DTC ?

 The Hyundai Auto Link app collects information like the vehicle’s description, location, speed, direction of travel, time of travel, service data, Diagnostic Trouble Codes, eco-related driving performance data such as speed, braking and acceleration information and mechanical condition of your vehicle. What information / data is sent to Hyundai New Zealand ?

The Hyundai Auto Link main screen shows your average Driving Information, Tyre Pressure Monitoring, Driving History, Vehicle Health Check and Parking Management screens.

Current

-  Distance: The distance travelled for your current driving trip.

-  Travel time: The time elapsed for your current driving trip.

Today

-  Distance: The total distance travelled for the day’s driving trips.

-  Travel time: The total time elapsed for the day’s driving trips.

Fuel   

-   Efficiency Rating: average measured from engine start to engine off.

-   Consumption: measured from engine start to engine off

ECO

-   Hard braking: The number of times hard braking occurred during current driving trip.

-   Rapid acceleration: The number of times rapid acceleration occurred during current driving trip.

What real-time information will Hyundai Auto Link provide me ?

 Hyundai Auto Link shows average driving statistics this includes fuel economy ranking, daily / weekly / monthly. This also includes speed statistics.   

What do the Drive Statistics in Hyundai Auto Link show ?

 Hyundai Auto Link is able to receive push messages from Hyundai New Zealand, which are stored in the Message Box.

How do the notifications work with Hyundai Auto Link ?

 Check that ‘Save Driving History’ is enabled in the Hyundai Auto Link application settings under the Configuration Menu. Please ensure your phone is not working in Low Power Mode as the phone may turn off GPS as part of this function

From time to time, your smartphone may experience a drop-out in the GPS signal and/or reception. This can result in the Hyundai Auto Link driving history being intermittently recorded and showing inaccurately on the driving history map.
